As our community may have seen, the parking lots of Glenn Westlake and Manor Hill are currently under a great deal of construction. This is part of the district’s long-term commitment to improving traffic flow, parking congestion and stormwater management at both schools, which will lead to greater safety for our students, staff, parents and community members.
The project will be completed in the coming days. Therefore, we want to ensure our families are supported in understanding what changes will result during pick-up and drop-off at Manor Hill.
Attached to this communication you will find a map that outlines the new traffic pattern as well as the designated areas where students will be dropped off and picked-up.
One of the more significant changes you will see noted on the map is that we now have designated lanes for bus and parent traffic. This is to provide our students and families with a safer, more efficient way to enter and exit our schools.
Directional signs will be placed throughout our parking lots to help guide you to this new drop-off/pick-up location, and crossing guards will also be stationed at the designated walkways to help students safely cross to the main entrance of their school. Additionally, there will be an increase in police presence to help guide traffic as needed.
Our families should also know that this traffic pattern is temporary and will change as we continue to address the long-term needs of Glenn Westlake. Please look for additional communication next week regarding this next phase of the project and how we will be soliciting input from our parent community.
We appreciate your attention to this important communication, and we look forward to welcoming your students back tomorrow.
Sincerely,
Ted Stec
Superintendent
